Tree planting Oct. 20 (raindate Oct. 27)

We will have twenty one city grant trees to plant on October 20th. Rain date will be the following Saturday. On October 8th the city will be placing flagging at each property marking the location the trees will be planted. Underground locations will be called in to mark each property. The city plans to drop off the trees and two bags of mulch next to the tree site on Friday the 19th. The starting time for planting on 10/20 will be at 9:00 a.m. at Linda's Way in front of the Fischer's home. We will have maps showing locations where trees are to be planted. Urban Forestry will provide work gloves and shovels and containers to place the soil. Bottled water will also be available for people planting trees. We will meet briefly to discuss tree planting method and should have all 21 trees in the ground in around two to three hours if enough people show up. Five gallon water buckets will be made available but the city is asking homeowners provide the water. The city will also provide a tree guard for each tree since Bambi is around and we have seen an increase in deer rub tree mortality. They will try to pick up all the soil that day but might have to pick up some containers the following Monday.
